The Right Honourable Ian Sinclair AC, BA, LLB, DUniv, (Hon UNE)
Barrister, Grazier, Company Director and former politician

Ian Sinclair was elected President of Austcare in February 2000 and chairs a number of other organisations. He was a Member of the NSW Legislative Council from 1961-1963 and represented New England in the House of Representatives from 1963-1998. He served as a Senior Federal Minister in diverse portfolios, was Parliamentary Leader of the National Party and retired as Speaker.

Mr Miles Hedge BEc, FCA, ACIS
Chartered Accountant

Miles joined the Austcare Board in 1991. Miles is a Chartered Accountant who has had extensive commercial experience across a broad range of industries. He has a strong commitment to assisting non-government organisations.

Chairperson

Barbara Young AO, BA Hons
Chairperson of Refugee Council of Australia

Barbara joined the Austcare Board in 1986 and has been Chairperson since 1993. Barbara has extensive experience in the aid and development sectors and has worked in an advisory capacity with various organisations including Save the Children (where she served as National President for three years and was given both Honorary Life Membership and the prestigious Save The Children Award), ACFID, the Refugee Council of Australia and Zonta International. She was the recipient of the Centenary Medal for her efforts on behalf of refugees. She is currently a coordinator and member of the Editorial Board of the academic journal Social Alternatives.

Mr Bill Armstrong AO, Grad Dip Community Ed

Bill joined the Austcare Board in 2003. He is on the National Committee of Caritas Australia, the Board of Indigenous Community Volunteers, chairs the City of Port Phillip's Friends of Suai Committee and is an Adjunct Professor of Deakin University and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Bill was Chief Executive Officer of Australian Volunteers International (AVI) from 1982 to 2002 and was President of ACFID from 1993 - 1997. He is a life member of AVI and ACFID and is a recipient of the Sir Edward Weary Dunlop Asia Medal for outstanding achievement and long-term commitment to enhancing the quality of life for people in Asia.

Mr Trevor Fearnley AM, Dip Advertising and Marketing (London)
Chairman, AdPartners Group

Trevor joined the Austcare Board in 2003. He has 35 years experience in the advertising and communication industry in Australia and the UK. He has worked for his company for 26 years and it is now part of the publicly listed Photon Group. Trevor brings specialist skills in fund-raising and communication to the Austcare Board. He also sits on the board of the OASIS Youth Care Network and The Salvation Army Media Advisory Board. He is on the board of the Australian National Council on Drugs, the board of Scouts NSW and also sits on the Scouts Australia National Council. He a member of The Salvation Army Eastern Territory Advisory Board, and is the current Chairman of the Salvation Army Door Knock Appeal in Sydney. He is a past federal Board Member and Chairman of the Advertising Federation of Australia. Trevor was made a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International in 2003 and in 2002 he received a Prime Minister's Award on behalf of the OASIS Youth Care Network.

Ms Pamela Greet BA, Dip Ed, MA
Community Services Manager, Qld Ambulance Service

Pamela joined the Austcare Board in 1998. Pamela is a former employee of Austcare and has extensive experience in the program development sector internationally, particularly in emergency preparedness, program evaluation and design, community education and working with volunteers. Ms Greet has also worked with the World Council of Churches, Lutheran World Federation, SACHED Trust in South Africa and the World University Service in the United Kingdom.

The Reverend John Mavor AM, MLitt, BD, Dip RE
Minister of Religion (Retired)

Reverend Mavor joined the Austcare Board in 1974 and has held the appointment of President and Chairperson. John is also a past president of ACFID. He has worked in the education sector in Queensland, New South Wales, Papua New Guinea and the South Pacific.

Tuong Quang Luu AO
Former Head of SBS Radio

Tuong Quang Luu joined the Austcare Board in 2007. He was Head of SBS Radio, Australia's multicultural multilingual national radio network from July 1989 to July 2006, and was named "Australian Achiever of the Year" in 2002. He was a senior executive in the central office of the Australian Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs in Canberra and served as the Department's State Director for NSW in Sydney from 1987 to 1989. Quang Luu came to Australia as a refugee after the fall of Saigon in April 1975.

Mr Kevin Bailey
Founder and Chairman, The Money Managers Ltd

Kevin joined the Austcare board in 2007. He is the founder and Chairman of The Money Managers Ltd and a former Director of the Financial Planning Association, where he received a Distinguished Service Award. He currently sits on the Conduct Review Commission and the Professional Conduct Committee. Kevin presents radio talkback programs and is a columnist for the Money section of the Sun Herald, as well as numerous other magazines and journals. He is the director of The Xanana Vocational Education Trust, which provides aid to Timor-Leste and is that country's Honorary Consul General in Victoria. He has actively supported Timor's struggle for freedom and independence for many years. He is also the patron of Life, Love and Health, a charity established to support women and children in East Timor.
