Austcare and ActionAid - Together.

Austcare has a long history of partnership with numerous local and international agencies. Over the past few years we have successfully extended our global reach and impact through a partnership with international antipoverty agency ActionAid International.

ActionAid has worked with groups in over 42 countries since its founding in 1972, reaching more than 13 million of the poorest and most vulnerable people this year alone.

In September 2007, we joined the ActionAid global network as an Associate, with a commitment by both agencies to continue to work closely with poor and excluded communities and to move towards affiliation. Read more.


Autumn Newsletter

In Austcare's latest supporter newsletter we look at some of ActionAid's work in Cambodia fighting for the rights of indigenous farmers to access the forest. We also introduce ActionAid Child Sponsorship and how Australians will soon be able to help children and their communities in Cambodia through sponsorship. And as the transformation to ActionAid Australia draws near, we answer some frequently asked questions from supporters.

East Timor beats civil unrest

AUSTRALIA’s efforts at improving agriculture in East Timor (Timor-Leste) have been ongoing, despite disruption caused by civil strife and political upheaval.

The Crawford Fund’s NT program coordinator, Dick Slack-Smith, said Australia had a range of programs to improve food security in East Timor so that families no longer suffered from a third ‘hungry’ season, on top of the equatorial wet and dry. Read more
