Myanmar Cyclone Appeal 2008

Four days after Cyclone Nargis hit Myanmar, 15,000 people have died and hundreds of thousands are homeless. It is anticipated that numbers will continue to rise over the next few days.

Austcare is providing assistance through partner organisation ActionAid International. Together, Austcare and ActionAid will supply food, temporary shelter, clothing and blankets, and first aid supplies. Read more

 

Landmine Action

Landmines are a global menace that can and are being eradicated. Landmine Action refers to the global efforts being made to eliminate the landmine problem through increasing support for the 1997 Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Treaty, the destruction of stockpiles, landmine clearance, educating communities at risk and assistance to landmine survivors.

Since 1989, Austcare has implemented landmine action projects in Afghanistan, Angola, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cambodia, and Mozambique. Austcare has provided a range of assistance including landmine clearance, the rehabilitation of landmine survivors, and awareness-raising among communities at risk, and we continue to grow this aspect of our work.
