Real Lives: Latifa's story
Last updated: 27 January 2009
Latifa Al Juju is the mother of 5 children. Last year, using a loan from Asala (Austcare’s partner in Gaza), Latifa set up a business selling clothing at a kiosk in the market. The kiosk was a success and she had paid off more than half the money.
On the second day of the war, a missile destroyed the roof of Latifa’s family home and ruined all her furniture, her belongings, and the clothing for her kiosk.
Her house is now uninhabitable and her family own only the clothes they were wearing when they fled their home.
Latifa tried to find some salvageable items and built a make-shift shack in her backyard, but it is obvious that the damage is complete: her home, her belongings, and her livelihood.
With your help, we will work with our partner organisations to give Latifa, and so many others like her, the help she needs to rebuild her life.
