Austcare and ActionAid - Together.

Austcare has a long history of partnership with numerous local and international agencies. Over the past few years we have successfully extended our global reach and impact through a partnership with international antipoverty agency ActionAid International.  

ActionAid has worked with groups in over 42 countries since its founding in 1972, reaching more than 13 million of the poorest and most vulnerable people this year alone. The ActionAid head office is located in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the organisation is structured so that country programmes are all partners with an equal say on how the organisation operates.

In September 2007, we joined the ActionAid global network as an Associate, with a commitment by both agencies to continue to work closely with poor and excluded communities and to move towards affiliation.

Austcare and ActionAid share a fundamental philosophy of building human security from the ground up and working 'with' people rather than 'for' them. Like Austcare, ActionAid works with local partners in all of their projects to ensure that activities and decisions are based on local knowledge and experience.

Austcare and ActionAid are currently partnering in Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Uganda. Please see our current International Program summary for more information on these projects.
