Aid workers say they're amazed that Burma has so far escaped a major outbreak of disease, after Cyclone Nargis battered the country. With the death toll now put at more than 140,000, aid agencies say they are still having problems getting food aid and relief personnel into the country. Shafqat Munir is Asia coordinator for relief agency Austcare and says one of the most pressing needs now is to ensure a rice crop is planted within the next two weeks. He has just returned from Burma and says in the last week aid has begun trickling in to the worst affected areas.

CAMBODIA: Landmine clearance will take another decade

Cambodia says its countryside will not be cleared of landmines until 2020. Cambodia is one of the world's most heavily-mined countries, where every year, hundreds of people are either killed or maimed by the devices. Prime Minister Hun Sen says it will take at least another ten years of demining to make the countryside safe.
