Austcare and SBS run
Myanmar Cyclone Radiothon Appeal

Austcare sends a big thank you to all of our generous supporters who have responded to our Cyclone Nargis Appeal, including those who responded to our Austcare-SBS Radiothon. Running from Sunday 1 June to Friday 13 June, Austcare representatives and radio presenters appeared on 13 SBS language programs to spread the word to all Australian residents about the situation in Myanmar, appealing to everyone to dig deep and donate generously.

While the ruling military junta in Myanmar have assessed the death toll at 84,537 with 53,836 still missing, independent experts have recently estimated the number of dead and missing at 200,000. Around 2.4 million people have been affected. Austcare and our partner ActionAid are providing food, temporary shelter, clothing and blankets, and first aid supplies.
