Playing Fields Not Minefields

Why support Playing Fields not Minefields?

There are between 45 and 50 million landmines in the ground in over 78 countries. Every year, landmines cause an estimated 15,000 to 20,000 preventable casualties among innocent men, women, and children. Over half of landmine victims die from the initial explosion of the mine. Others are badly maimed, requiring amputation.

People living in mine affected areas risk their lives every day. Children cannot play safely. Families cannot farm, fetch water or take their produce to market.

By getting involved in Playing Fields Not Minefields you can support Austcare's work with local partners in clearing landmines and helping local people return to their land and become self-sufficient.
